Online Event: Consultation on policy changes to the CfD Scheme

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) will be hosting an online event to discuss potential changes for Allocation Round 7 (AR7), due to open in summer 2025. The event will provide a summary of the proposed policy changes to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme and how you can contribute your views. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions relating to the consultation and proposed changes.

Consultation on proposed AR5 contract changes

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has today published a consultation on changes to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Standard Terms and Conditions and Private Network Agreement for Allocation Round 5.

Government Launches the Clean Industry Bonus

Ofgem has received one or more appeals from non-qualifying applicants in the sixth allocation round (AR6) of the Contracts for Difference scheme. The round will therefore run to timeline scenario 5, the longest timeline, until its conclusion.

Forthcoming consultation and call for evidence

This is advance notice that in the next few weeks, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will launch a six-week consultation on technical changes to the Contracts for Difference scheme and the Supply Chain Plan process as it begins policy work on Allocation Round 5.

AR6 Exemptions Request Notice published

The government has published the Exemptions Request Notice for Allocation Round 6 (AR6). This notice sets out the procedure that excluded generators must follow if they wish to apply to be exempted from their temporary site exclusion in order to be eligible to participate in AR6, which is due to open in March 2024.

The fifth round of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme has opened to applications today (Thursday 30th March 2023). The application window will close on 24th April 2023.

The key dates will be updated on the AR5 microsite if there are any changes to the timeline before the allocation round opens to applications.

Allocation Round 5 draft timeline published

A draft indicative timeline for Allocation Round 5 (AR5) has been published on the Contracts for Difference (CfD) microsite. As announced in February 2022, CfD rounds will now run annually, instead of every two years. It is planned for AR5 to get underway in March 2023.
